DGCA Issues Fresh Norms for Airlines
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the regulator of aviation in India has issued Fresh norms mandating correct landing procedures and occupying of the cockpit in the backdrop of the recent Air India Express mishap in Mangalore, Karnataka in India.DGCA has instructed directives on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to all scheduled, non-scheduled and general aviation operators to go for ‘correct landing’ procedures that is made at the correct point on the runway with the correct flight parameters than soft landing which results in a delayed touchdown that require harsh deceleration to avoid overshooting the runway or other catastrophes. IBS Inks Deal With Malaysia Airlines
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has entered into a long term contract with IBS Software, a leading supplier of IT solutions for the global travel, transportation and logistics industry, for deploying its crew management system, AvientCrew. The deal, set to provide MAS with increased efficiency and reduced cost of operation, was signed in Kuala Lumpur today. Paramount Goes International
> Chennai based Paramount Airways, One of India's leading domestic premium airlines, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to buy ten A321 aircraft with an option for additional ten. The agreement was concluded at the 48th Le Bourget air show outside Paris. The deal will be funded by the European central bank. M. Paramount Airways Plans Foray into East
Paramount Airways, the Coimbatore based “all-business class airline”, is planning to launch operations in the eastern region in June with two-three daily flights between Chennai and Kolkata, said M. Thiagarajan, Managing Director.Speaking to newspersons in Kolkatta, he said, “We are looking at starting flights from all major cities of the South to Kolkata via Chennai from June.” There were also plans to operate direct flights from other major southern cities to Kolkata subsequently, he said. Global Airport Traffic Remains Flat
Preliminary traffic results for 2008 show that for the full year, worldwide passenger traffic remained flat, thanks to strong growth in the first quarter which balanced the year-end Decemberline, whereas year-end results in the freight sector, which did not benefit from any significant surge in traffic during the year, retracted in 2008 (international freight -3%, domestic -7% and the worldwide average -4.5%). For the month of December 2008, global passenger traffic growth fell by 6 percent as compared to December 2007, as did international and domestic traffic. Paramount Airways  recently introduced another scheme, "Smart Flyer APEX Fares" which offers passengers to travel on all sectors in the South and West by booking tickets fifteen days ahead of travel.
